1st Place: Yue Pan

This work aims to take the audience through my journey that begins with the feeling of panic and uncertainty stepping into high school to ultimately forgiving and accepting myself for not being okay. The title "bLossOm in the CreScenT Moon" contains the four letters that compose "LOST". The crescent moon in Greek Mythology symbolizes empowerment. I've been through the ups and downs during the "walk in my shoes", and I'm no longer afraid for what's coming for me.

3rd Place: Jessica Sobrepena

This piece called a beautiful hazard is inspired by my life living with Type 1 Diabetes. I was diagnosed at 2 years old and this year has marked 21 years living with this condition. As a growing multimedia artist I aspire to create pieces of art that raise awareness on the issues type 1 diabetics face on a daily basis. This art piece is made with a milk jar to represent the insulin vials diabetics need in order to survive & is wrapped in my old recycled medical supplies. The goal of this piece is to not only share a slice of my life living with type one but to also showcase just how much of a necessity insulin is & how critical the inflation prices are affecting diabetics throughout the United States. It also showcases just how strongly mental health plays an important role in living with type 1 diabetes and the amount of pricks and pokes we go through solely to survive.

SHORT FILM WINNER

1st Place: Hanah Vu

My obsession with being clean started when I was very young, and it gradually grew as I grew up. Despite having many habits stemming from this obsession, my most frequent and consistent practice is cleaning my hands; thus, washing my hands is the focus of my short film. This obsession of mine is essential to who I am because it occupies my mind so much that it shapes and influences my everyday actions and interactions. If someone were to ever take a walk in my shoes, they would soon become overwhelmed with the need to be clean that they will ignore everything else.
